Silcore: Jovian Chronicles

Week 3
Strange Times

Week 3

After our preliminary classes and some tests in the afternoon we all sort of argued with each other about NEO and MCR after the morning classes had been cancelled due to a war breaking out. It seems the NEO and MCR talks not only melted down but resulted in a bomb going off at the meet. They say MCR was responsible but we all know they couldn’t afford that kind of operation. Plus they never gave a list of casualties which likely included many MCR officials. We set a date to meet the man who represents the Titan Self Defense Force the next day.

We attended some more classes and a meeting with the representative from Titan today. It was a private meet to see what we could get from Titan. We spoke with the man hoping to learn a bit more about what we could get. Jackson did okay but he keeps drinking. The reason we met with him first was because out of all the faction fighting Titan just wanted to be left alone and would have seen action in defense against others as well as some really cool mechs. Theo and Ellen were okay with whoever we chose. A part of me feels that Ellen would have gladly followed had we picked the bastards at NEO. Theo will be disappointed that we did not pick Titan with their high tech EXO’s.

More classes and possibly some of the greatest amounts of BS I’ve seen to date. We had a meet with all of the representatives. There was a frustrated lesbian by the name of Clara who relied on sex appeal to simply get pilots to speak with her, a man named Vincent who was more pirate than mercenary, though we never talked with him he clearly was the type to live backstabbing others. There was also the MCR representative who came to meet us at our dorms when we scheduled a meeting. He had offers for high rank for certain and assured us meals at the cost of citizens. I don’t like MCR’s position and maybe if we help them out we can secure an ally later on. They seem reluctant to join a war. Of course we spoke with the Omerta Police Department but none of us are cut out for that. Jackson drinks too much, Dison would shoot first and ask questions later, Jimmy might work out best for a while but the strict rules would break him, and my criminal past would only cause problems or limit us in that situation. Plus we all want to be more active in this war and not wait around for crimes to happen or attacks on Omerta. Eventually we met with a NEO representative who left a sour taste in everyone’s mouth. Kyle ignored his bribe of prostitutes out of respect for the females in the squad. I merely asked Theo what a prostitute was doing in my quarters. This was the worst bribe in history or the worst assassination attempt in history. Since I’m not too important I’m going with the bribe. One thing is clear though. Carta Vie will suffer a fate far worse than an arrow to the knee, but my vengeance would require some things…a pineapple, a rope, a burlap sack, an astronaut, a panini grill, an actor and a Nazi costume. I’ve been rehearsing what I’m going to say to that man when it goes down. After sending her away out of rage and asking for a WMD to shove where the sun doesn’t shine against Carta I was calmed down by Jimmy who said the best way to get at the man was to refuse his offer. I bet Theo and Ellen are mad but to think they would follow us if we joined NEO after such blatant disrespect…I hope their loyalty isn’t misplaced. Especially Theo, she just wants to work as a technician, and I have to admit I like the girl. She’s admirable and honest, if a little lacking in confidence when the subject at hand isn’t a robot or something mechanical. Maybe she’ll let me take her out before those fights.

The final weekly event was our finishing the classes and gearing up for a fight. A sort of final in which things are slightly more lethal. I can’t believe Jimmy did the best with small arms. Or that he matched Jackson in Leadership…seems his luck turned around. Either way I’m hoping that this next week isn’t too crazy. We decided to finish school and we join an unknown group led by Kaden. We didn’t really mesh with anyone but Titan and a couple others based on the person but in the end the appeal of poking anyone we wanted in the eye if they step out of line was too tempting. Heroes of the galaxy sounds like a nice retirement if we live. I think Kyle was in for the same reason I was. We can hit anyone and we focus on military installations. I didn’t join the army to shoot peasants with torches and pitchforks while piloting a giant robot.

By the Rogue Exo

I Managed to interview some students this week. Although I doubt they knew it was the Rouge Exo they were truly speaking to.

With mix results from individual testing we were all placed into squads, some of us ended up in better squads then others. Now I am not certain if this was tactics or pure luck, but ‘Cowboy Jackson’, and ‘Dusty Duck Norbert’, botched their solo run. This placed them in a group with two of the classes hotshot Exo pilots, “Striker1” aka Kyle Dison and His side arm ‘The Red Knight’ Aldis Cuthbert.

Due to a match making formula created by our Professor Takata, Striker1’s team was designed to face off against Lee Evan’s in a 4 on 4 bout in a small asteroid cluster. I had to say I thought the odds were in Lee’s favour as he had two of the top pilots in the preliminary tests and his Auxiliaries were far better rounded then Striker’s team.

It seems a mix of mechanics and Exo Pilots worked well for this make shift team, I know I wouldn’t want to be on it. As all 4 Exo came into the sortie heavily modified. Major upgrades to two of the Exo suits targeting computers, another heavily loaded with missiles while the 4th and lead Exo had its mobility enhanced greatly. This was a technical edge against Lee’s team, as they were only able to outfit two of the Exo suits with better manoeuvrability. This along with better communication and teamwork granted Striker’s team with the win.

Highlights from the Fight are listed below.

The bout started off with Lee’s Team holding back waiting for Striker’s team to make the first strike.
A fainted move by striker caused Lee and his allies to launch all their ordnances at a single target in hopes of taking out their strongest pilot before the fight even started.

With a quick group decision Striker pulled back, reeling away from the incoming missiles. His allies took aim firing past Striker’s exo to destroy most of the ordinances.

Lee’s team took this opportunity to push forward against striker, moving into range and firing at a sole Target, Striker1’s Exo only sustained light damage from the assault, and the team unified to remove as many threats as they could, while most of the fire was returned onto Lee, The Red Knight duelled against Jake Kabrinski, severing his hydraulic line leaving the fighter dead in the air. This duel is what i believe gave Aldis his new nickname, that and the fact his exo was clearly visible for the entire sortie afterwards due to the red hydraulic fluid that back sprayed onto his exo suit.

The fight was now a 3 on 4, with Lee’s team scrambling to land blows, Kikuchi aka ‘Jester’ took position behind Striker focusing on a barrage of attacks with the pathfinder’s plasma lances.

Meanwhile Dusty Duck launched a barrage of missiles at Lee’s Exo suit. An attack lee managed to barely dodge, but also left him open to Striker’s particle cannon. Two quick shots put Lee’s Exo suit out of commission. His’s Exo’s power coupling shutting down moments before the remaining missiles were to hit him. Luckily these safety measures likely saved the life of a student.

Thomas was shot down quickly after, yet somehow Jester not only kept his head in a 4 on 1 battle, he managed to dish out nearly as well as he received.

Eventually Jester’s luck ran out as he could no longer evade the incoming barrage of fire.

Lee Evans was reported cursing threats of revenge and insults to the Pathfinder Exo suits claiming them to be inferior tools to the NEO suits he was used to. It is likely this is what caused his school Call-sign to be Dubbed ‘CryBai’.

Unlike other Pilots in our squadron I felt it best to reserve the use of Lee’s call-sign, as post issue, Lee’s temper caused him to place three jesting students into the infirmary.

Of course the Rouge Exo destroyed the opposition, and our squad is ranked only slightly behind that of Striker1’s but it seems unlikely we will be able to test our skills against each other.

With the report of War, The NEO and MCR officials have bumped up their recruiting measures, Neo Officials have started offering custom EXO suits to pilots who sign on designed around their capabilities, and boast the most spacious living quarters for their pilots as well as triple the pay that the MCR can afford.

The MCR officials have only bumped up their recruiting measures, but do state that their Exo pilots receive extra ‘Privileges’ in the fleet.

It is my guess we will loose over 70% of our students to these offers. Of course those in the advanced Exo program will likely be offered even more if we seek to meet with them.

From my interviews it seems Akira and Trist have both opted to join MCR despite the lower pay While I suspect Lee Evans, Thomas and Kikuchi will all take the NEO offer.
The officials from all bidding entities will be on campus now under constant observation of the remaining pilots. I have been approached by a few my self, and I expect they will meet with any students wishing to weigh their options.

The CGA has also asked me to inform students seeking refuge from the war can instead look for employment here within the CGA it self. and that should you wish it, to speak to the Dean.

Well I guess that’s it for now.

WAR!!!

It is a sad sad day for all of us here at Omerta Space station, and across the solar system, as the trade talks between Martian Officials and New Earth Order came to a hostile end.

At 0700 OET (Old earth time) today a personal explosive device was detonated in the conference hall of Omerta space station killing two of the three New Earth Officials. NEO has proclaimed this is an act of war and has begun mobilizing troops from the New Earth Orbital platform towards Mars in retaliation..

The MCR has proclaimed innocence to the bombing but in reaction to NEO’s forces has started mobilising their militia including a public Draft of its citizens.

There has been no word of Titan’s official response to Mars call to help, but our scanners have picked up a small force of Titan ships moving towards the asteroid belt. perhaps to create a launching platform for inner system attacks, or a defensive measure to secure their assets.

I would like to remind citizens that the OPD has asked everyone to stay neutral in this matter. Omerta will remain a refuelling and trade hub for all vessels and OPD officials have stated that any fighting within our space will result in a 30 day ban from the station as a minimum penalty.

Hey fans, its me again, the Rogue Exo.
Here to give you the low-down on the latest from the CGA Academy.

Yours truly as well as a batch of the academy’s finest were accepted into the advanced Exo-Armor training program. Our instructors are none other then the world renowned pirate slayer General Omura and the child prodigy Takata Isamu.

With our basic assessment under way I must say I have been impressed with a number of my competitors. By far Kyle Dison has the class intimidated with his sheer proneness in the simulators, But other notable students are Aldis Cuthbert and Lee Evans. who both excel in the physical aspect of our training.

On the other end of the spectrum, I am shocked and surprised by a student calling himself “Jimmy” it took some digging but I found out that his real name is Norbert J. Hathaway. I can only assume the J is for Jimmy. Either way, since we started out training he has been in and out of the medical Facility a number of times, first getting into a gun fight… yes a real western style shoot out on his first day. no sooner then getting cleared for class he found himself in a fist fight that took him out of the dorms for another three days. While I say I’m surprised, its because despite these setbacks he is barely trailing the leaders on the CGA assessment Exams.

There is also Jackson Murphy, who seems to not understand how basic Zero G training works… Maybe he should have stuck to the ground based forces…

So far most of the students have kept to themselves. but I assume all that is about to change, as next week we are to start off in Exo combat training, after which we will be placed into teams.

It is rumoured that our team work is what we are really being graded on and the better we do in these final weeks the higher chance of getting the placements we are really after. If that is Truly the case, I hope i get some like minded team-mates as I can see being placed in a volatile team hindering my chances.

On the Gossip side of things, it seems that Lee Evans has a way with the women, and has even begun trying to court our very own school nurse Jannet Craig. There is no confirming anything has come of this, but the recently viral video of Lee exposing himself to Jannet in the medical bay is enough to keep us excited as to what may come.
